Presidential escort guards on Thursday had to look for alternative route to save President Uhuru Kenyatta from inevitable embarrassment in Kisii town as NASA supporters took to streets.
Moments after addressing a fairly attended rally at Ogembo, which was equally marred with anti – Jubilee slogans, Uhuru’s next stop was at Marani shopping center in Kitutu Chache North.
But the presidential team had to literally take a different route within Kisii town to avoid confrontation with rowdy NASA supporters.
Protestors carried twigs chanting anti – Jubilee songs within the busy town with some burning Jubilee party campaign materials.
To avoid the CBD, Uhuru’s motorcade used Jogoo suburbs route before connecting Kisii – Miruka highway on his way to Marani.
With no police intervention, the peaceful protesters broke into pro – Chief Justice Maraga’s songs with a number of them condemning Uhuru for suspected witch-hunt.
The pretests however, did not sabotage Uhuru’s busy itinerary since he managed to address the Marani rally later on.
Gusii region voted overwhelmingly for Raila Odinga but Uhuru’s performance was fairly impressive than the 2013 outing.
