Ex-Kiambu Governor William Kabogo could after all replace Mwangi Kiunjuri in the devolution docket, says political pundit Dismas Mokua.
On Friday, Uhuru unveiled a partial cabinet in which only six current ministers were retained, with Kiunjuri, who was poached by Uhuru from murky politics, conspicuously missing.
"We have read or even heard Mt. Kenya leaders denouncing Kiunjuri on grounds that he comes from Rift Valley. He certainly had to go," he says.
Further, Mokua adds: "The only established leader to inherit Uhuru's support base is Kabogo and it will not be a surprise to see him named i cabinet."
Recently, Kabogo, who lost to Ferdinand Waititu, launched a scathing attack on DP William Ruto by warning him about the populous Mt. Kenya region.
He said:"Mt. Kenya voters are not wheelbarrows to be pulled and pushed. We shall make our conscious decision in 2022."
During Jubilee nominations in 2017, Kabogo accused DP William Ruto of allegedly planning his downfall.
But despite the bitter succession battle, Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria says no matter the situation, Mt. Kenya voters will 'die' with Ruto.
"We are ready to prove our critics wrong. Ruto has stood with us all the time and we shall die with him."
