Police in Nairobi are working with CID officers to recover a car belonging to President Kenyatta’s nephew, who was carjacked on Saturday night.
In a separate incident, politician Peter Kenneth’s wife was also carjacked in another incident that happened at Spring Valley.
According to Nairobi Police Commander Japheth Koome, the gangsters posed as guards after they took duty guards hostage, before committing the crimes.
President Kenyatta’s nephew, Dr Njoroge Muigai, his wife and daughter, were carjacked at their home in Kyuna Estate on Sunday morning, driven almost 10 kilometres away and abandoned unhurt.
Kenneth’s wife, Ann Wanjiru, was also carjacked at the same estate and abandoned at the same spot as the Muigai family.
“The gang had apparently arrived at the scene earlier and taken the guards on duty hostage. The gang then posed as guards and ushered in several vehicles before Ms Wanjiru, who was driving herself, arrived,” Mr Koome said.
The cars; Volkswagen Tiguan belonging to Dr Muigai and a Land-Rover Freelander belonging to Kenneth’s wife are still missing
