President Uhuru Kenyatta’s nephew was over the weekend carjacked and his car robbed.
In a separate incident, Peter Kenneth’s wife also had a similar experience.
Uhuru’s nephew, Njoroge Muigai, his wife and daughter were carjacked from their home in Kyuna Estate, driven almost 10km away from home and abandoned unhurt.
Dr Muigai and his family were driving a Volkswagen Tiguan car.
Ann Wanjiru, Kenneth’s wife, was also carjacked from the same estate and abandoned at the same spot where Dr Muigai and his family were found.
The gunmen, according to eye witnesses, ordered Kenneth’s wife to open the car at gunpoint before she was taken hostage.
She was then ordered to switch off her phone.
Police have since launched a manhunt for the suspects across Nairobi where the incidents happened.
Nairobi County Police boss Japheth Koome confirmed the incident, saying efforts to trace the cars were ongoing.
“The victims were not harmed during the incidents. They are safe and with their families,” he said.
Police officers hunting the attackers said the cars have been traced to Uganda.
