A storm is brewing in the Jubilee camp in Kilifi County after a section of leaders decried neglect.Led by Duncan Ndegwa, the chairperson of Friends of Uhuru in Kilifi County, the politicians asked the Jubilee leadership to empower local leaders in the county instead of focusing on ‘outsiders’. Ndegwa claimed that most of the Jubilee officials in the county come from Nairobi; a situation which he said has caused them to experience a hard time in their quest to drum up support for President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto as they seek re-election.He noted that it was not easy to campaign for the Head of State prior to the August 8 election, since they felt sidelined in the affairs of the party. “In August we faced so many challenges. Jubilee Party leaders at the Coast lack the sense of party ownership,” said Ndegwa, as quoted by The Star. He also claimed that Jubilee officials in the county cannot successfully sell the party’s agenda in the area because residents have not accepted them as they are non-locals. Jubilee’s inroads were watered down by the ODM wave that swept the county with the Raila Odinga-led party sweeping all the seats in the August 8 polls.
