The Head of State met the legislators at State House Nairobi, where he stressed on the need for the lawmakers to fully carry out their oversight duty.

President Kenyatta noted that for Kenyans to completely benefit from their respective county governments, the Senators must ensure proper service delivery in the county leaderships.

''I met Senators from the Jubilee Party and emphasized the need for Senators to play their oversight role effectively to ensure devolution succeeds in transforming the lives of Kenyans,'' the President posted on his Twitter handle.

The President also urged the lawmakers to aid his government as it seeks to deliver in its big 4 agenda, a pledge he gave before his re-election.

The agenda revolves around manufacturing, affordable housing, affordable healthcare and food security.

President Kenyatta asked the Senators to table and pass motions that will speed up the realization of his pledges to the Kenyan people.

''The success of the Big Four agenda depends on effective drafting and passage of relevant legislation,'' he added.
