It didn’t matter if you were related to the president or how much money you had in Kiambu as incumbents saw fire in the ongoing primaries.

Among those who suffered big losses was President Uhuru Kenyatta’s niece, Anne Nyokabi, who was resoundingly rejected by voters in the primaries.

Nyokabi was beaten by veteran vernacular radio journalist Gathoni Wamuchomba who managed 374,306 votes against her measly 26,768 votes.

Wamuchomba, being referred to as ‘Minji Minji’, has been seen as an outsider but the primaries became the determining factor which gave her the nod to represent Kiambu women.

Nyokabi joined Ruiru MP Esther Gathogo and her counterparts Limuru’s John Kiragu, Githunguri’s Njoroge Baiya on the Jubilee Party nominations chopping board in Kiambu.

Ng’ang’a King’ara will fly the flag for Ruiru while Peter Mwathi and Kago Wa Lydia will be on the ballot to represent Limuru and Githunguri consecutively.

Earlier, Kabete MP Ferdinand Waititu upset incumbent Governor William Kabogo by a huge margin.
