President Uhuru Kenyatta’s niece, Nana Gecaga has spilled beans on her battle with alcohol while in high school. Speaking during Kiss FM breakfast show hosted by Adelle Onyango and Shaffie Weru, Nana said that her greatest regret in life is being an alcoholic during her teenage years.
The ex-sprinter also said that her interest was in sports but alcohol drifted her from her goals.
Gecaga, also Chief Executive Officer of Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC), divulged that she qualified for the 1996 Olympics and had a dream of becoming a president, but she never attained the same.
Gecaga also told the hosts that her addiction taught many things about life including character building.
“With that [alcoholism] comes regret; my biggest regret is that it derailed me from pursuing my dream in athletics, even after qualifying for the 1996 Summer Olympics – sprinting, " she said.
In a past interview on Churchill Live, to the shock and amusement of many, Nana revealed that she used to drink 24 bottles of liquor daily.
She also said that she could not end a day without thinking about where she could find brew.
Nana is now a proud mother of three kids; Udi, Jomo, and Uhuru.
