Nairobi gubernatorial hopeful Peter Kenneth was reportedly offered a Cabinet position by President Uhuru Kenyatta to step down for Senator Mike Sonko.
Sources privy to the deal say that the former Gatanga MP was offered the Infrastructure Development docket last week Tuesday, Kenyans.co.ke reports.
Kenneth is said to have rejected the proposal, insisting that if he was to step down, he must be given the Finance docket.
Senator Sonko won the hotly contested Nairobi Jubilee nominations against Kenneth after garnering 138,185 votes against Kenneth’s 62,504.
Kenneth, however, lodged an appeal against Sonko's win for the Nairobi governor race, saying the nominations were a sham.
The 2013 presidential aspirant claimed that Jubilee's Nairobi primaries were rigged in favour of Sonko.
