President Uhuru Kenyatta has reaffirmed the government's commitment to protect Kenyans and their property ahead of the upcoming presidential repeat polls.

Speaking on Saturday, the Head of State also assured the voters of their security as they plan to participate in the elections.

Uhuru further challenged NASA supporters not to disrupt the electoral process, noting that it would be a contravention of other people's rights.

“Their right to boycott elections will be respected; similarly they should respect the rights of those who want to take part in the elections,” he remarked.

“If Raila, who went to court and got his prayers for a repeat election will not participate in the election, we are sorry, we must go into elections. We cannot continue holding Kenyans in suspense," he added.

On his part, NASA leader Raila Odinga has called on his supporters to boycott the polls, arguing that it does not meet the Constitutional threshold.
