Ford Kenya party leader Moses Wetangula has told off Deputy president William Ruto, saying he has no right to criticise the Opposition on its choice of East Africa Legislative Assembly (EALA) positions.
This was after Ruto accused Wiper party for nominating Nasa co-principal Kalonzo Musyoka’s son, Kennedy, to EALA post claiming it amounted to nepotism.
In a statement, Friday, Wetangula claimed that relatives attached to President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy had been employed by the State in influential positions, yet Ruto sees no wrong in that.
“We find it disturbing that Ruto has seen nothing wrong with and has never find it necessary to condemn the unilateral appointments by Jubilee,” said Wetangula.
“Relatives, friends, sons and daughters of top leaders have been employed in influential positions for no reason other than kinship and friendship,” he added.
He noted that Uhuru’s nephew Jomo Gecaga works as the president’s private secretary and George Muhoho (uncle) influences polices and other presidential pronouncements.
“For instance, President Uhuru Kenyatta’s relatives hold influential positions in State House,” he said
“In addition, children and relatives of the president and his deputy (are) are posted in our foreign missions for no special qualifications other than kinship.”
The Nasa co-principal noted: “This must be deeply hypocritical, merciless and extremely cynical for them to lecture NASA and Kenyans on public morality.”
