A few hours after President Uhuru Kenyatta defended his performance record in State of the Nation Address, an opposition MP from Nyamira has warned Kenyans against reelecting him on August.

Despite admitting a few challenges facing his government, Kenyatta highlighted infrastructure, energy, healthcare and education as part of his mega achievements since 2013.

But Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire has dismissed the achievements labeling them ‘insignificant and avenue of looting’.

“Nobody has denied that he hasn’t done anything. We are concerned with the manner in which money is being swindled using those projects,” Bosire said on Wednesday.

“He has embraced corruption and our economy is on the verge of collapsing. A second term for him would be suicidal for this country,” added Bosire.

In his defense, Kenyatta said the government had managed to recover billions from looters adding that a section of culprits had been prosecuted.

The opposition team under stewardship of Raila Odinga has often accused the government of allegedly failing to cub corrupt officials within its systems.
