It is reported that the MP wanted to gain entry into a conference hall in Changamwe area of Mombasa, where a senior Chinese government official was meeting Kenya’s national assembly committee on transport.

The Star reported that she was meeting her parliamentary colleagues, and officials from Kenya Ports Authority and the Rift Valley Railways.

But President Uhuru Kenyatta’s security team, which had been deployed to escort Zhang Djiang, the chairman of the National People’s Congress of China, blocked her entry.

The officers, who were in plainclothes, threatened to arrest and lock her up if she did not leave or identify herself, according to the Star.

“I don’t need to identify myself,” the woman representative is quoted as saying.

When the officers realised that she an MP, they claimed that there were no enough seats in the room.

Later, an officer declared: “We have orders to block you.”

The MP said she had been invited her colleague Maina Kamanda, who serves as the chairman of the parliamentary committee on transport.

Ms Mboko complained of harassment, despite being an MP, and said she regretted honouring the invitation.
