President Uhuru Kenyatta on Thursday attended the launch of the manifesto by the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Joyce Laboso.
Laboso is the Jubilee gubernatorial candidate for Bomet County in the general elections slated for August 8.
Speaking during the event held in Bomet town, the President drummed up support for the Jubilee candidate asking Bomet residents to make history by voting overwhelmingly for Laboso in next month's polls to make her the first female governor in the country.
“I have interrupted my campaigns to come here because I want to urge you to make history by electing the first female governor in the country,” said President Kenyatta.
Laboso will lock horns with NASA co-principal and Chama Cha Mashinani leader Isaac Ruto.
The Head of State also took the opportunity to urge Kenyans to vote for Jubilee gubernatorial aspirants in order to end squabbles between the county and national government.
He accused the Opposition governors whom he said have focused on fighting the national government at the expense of providing services to residents in their counties.
"The Opposition governors have been behaving as if the two levels of government are in competition, denying residents services that would transform their lives," he said.
The President added: “We want to end the retrogressive competition between counties and the national government that has delayed important projects that directly lift the lives of Kenyans.”
