Controversial businessman and staunch Uhuru Kenyatta supporter Paul Kobia has expressed disappointment in the government saying the Meru community is no longer in Jubilee.
Speaking in Meru where he was joined by Mt Kenya ODM Patron Mike Makarina, Kobia said the government has let the community down by short-changing them even in appointments.
In a video recording, he said: “I want to work with Cord/NASA. And it’s not just me. Merus have told me that they want to leave Jubilee and it’s like they have already left. We’ve been in Jubilee since 2013 and the president has been away for 14 months. Why is that the president is only coming to Meru to hunt for votes?”
Kobia added that the community is disgruntled by the government because it has not given them any projects.
“The president has big projects in Mombasa, Kisumu and elsewhere. Why is it that we Merus who vote for him have no project. Merus are not blind. We’re no longer in Jubilee because we were lied to.”
He added, “We only have one CS. And we’re the principals for Jubilee after Central and Rift Valley. Where are the Merus in the government?”
Kobia also disdained Meru Senator Kiraitu Murungi for dissolving his party to join Jubilee. He said, “Kiraitu sold APK. Merus are not for sale like goats. We have a vision and enough is enough. Now we are negotiating where we are going. Whom has Kiraitu helped?”
The businessman said they are drafting an agreement which they will present to the coalition they will support.
