President Uhuru Kenyatta has threatened to unleash tough consequences on demonstrators ahead of today's planned protests in the city.
Speaking at a campaign rally in Embu on Monday, the president warned that protestors would meet the full force of the law if they attempted to loot from shops and cause disorderliness during their activities.
"We know they have planned demos, tomorrow (today). That is their right. But if they try to loot shops, block roads and harass motorists, then they will know there's a government in power," he said.
The president said NASA leader Raila Odinga is an ordinary citizen who does not hold any elective office and therefore has no mandate to call for the sacking of any public officer.
"If he is not ready for the election, let him stay at home and allow those of us who are ready to continue," the President said.
