Details are emerging that President Uhuru Kenyatta made a phone call to DCI boss George Kinoti on Sunday, told him to swing into action and ensure the National Youth Service (NYS) theft suspects are behind bars.
Those in the know said Uhuru is ‘very angry’ over the looting spree that is taking place in the country.
On Sunday, he picked his phone and personally called Kinoti with clear instructions to have suspects in custody.
The Head of State reportedly told the top detective that he would not go to bed that Sunday night until the characters are behind bars.
The call got Kinoti by surprise and sent him into a panic mood.
He quickly summoned his juniors and crafted a strategy on how his boys would ambush all the suspects, bundle them into their arresting vehicles and speed off to police stations.
Kinoti assured the officers that they had the president’s support and should not be threatened by the ‘big fish’ they were about to arrest.
That is the call that led to a night of arrests on Sunday and Monday morning.
