President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto are set to begin their second term in office following their re-election.

This is because the opposition Nasa stated they will not challenge the poll results announced on Friday night.

The National Super Alliance (Nasa) led by Raila Odinga, claimed that Jubilee Party colluded with IEBC to ensure the President wins.

According to the law, the President-elect and his deputy should be sworn-in on the Tuesday, 14 days after declaration of presidential results, in case no one challenges the results in court.

This means Uhuru and Ruto will be sworn in on  Tuesday, August 29, 2017, if Nasa or any citizen fails to petition the outcome of the presidential results.

The Jubilee leaders will take oath of office in the presence of Chief Justice David Maraga.

The National Assembly and the Senate will convene before the event, for the swearing-in of MPs elect, senators and speakers of the assemblies.

"The MPs and senators will be gazetted latest Tuesday ," Garissa Township MP Aden Duale told The Standard.

Duale said that Uhuru will thereafter be at liberty to nominate a new Cabinet.

There have been reports indicating that the President and his deputy will reshuffle the Cabinet, with some of the incumbents being shown the door.

2022 politics might play a huge part in the selection of the members of the Executive, with Ruto looking to lay a solid foundation to succeed Uhuru.
