President Uhuru Kenyatta has yet again thrown to defense of his traditional voting block of Tharaka Nithi and Meru regions after the latest entry of ODM leader Raila Odinga.
Thousands of local residents from the two counties turned up to listen to Odinga, who was making second appearance since the official campaigns kecked off.
They chanted anti-Uhuru slogans in protest to high cost of living and dwindling Miraa business which they directly linked the president to.
Although Uhuru visited the region recently with a lot of goodies, Tuesday’s events could yet again throw Jubilee to drawing board following the unexpected reception of Odinga.
Leading the campaigns for NASA in the populous region is Isaih Kindiki, who happens to be brother to Jubilee points man Kithure Kindiki.
In 213, Uhuru scored highly from the region and he could be forced to change his tactics to avoid losing over 1 million votes from Mt. Kenya East region.
For Odinga, he has persistently promised locals that he will better roads and Miraa business, a message which seems to move down well with locals.
