Barely a day after the declaration of President Uhuru Kenyatta as winner of October polls, a section of leaders from Gusii region have disowned the pronouncement.
Also, the leaders took a swipe at the international community which they accuse of subverting democracy in the country.
"At least 60 percent of Kenyans never voted and that is an indication that Uhuru is an illegitimate president. He will never be in control," said South Mugirango MP Sylvanus Osoro.
According to IEBC official records, only 38 percent of the 19.5 million registered voters turned up in an election that was boycotted by opposition leader Raila Odinga.
And Timothy Bosire, a former ODM MP from Kitutu Masaba insisted that the region will not recognise Uhuru's victory should he be sworn in.
"We still have many options but as a region, we cannot recognize his victory. He has never won in a free and fair contest and he knows that."
Despite the massive boycott in the Nyanza region, at least 150, 000 voters of the approximately 800, 000 voters participated in the exercise.
