President Uhuru Kenyatta’s visit to the Lower Eastern counties of Machakos, Makueni and Kitui scheduled for May 19, 20 and 21 has been put off to June.
State House Spokesperson Manoah Esipisu said in a statement on Saturday that a new date for the visit to the region will be communicated.
He however assured that the visit will be in June.
“President Kenyatta is looking forward to the visit to interact with leaders and residents and to exchange views on the region's development needs. The President believes the additional time will allow completion of preparations for the visit,” Esipisu said.
Late last month, President Kenyatta hosted a delegation of over 10,000 leaders and professionals from the region at State House gardens.
Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua and Health Cabinet Secretary Cleopa Mailu led the delegation.
