Emerging reports indicate that President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto celebrated their inauguration in style.

According to the E-daily Thursday, the duo alongside other allies spent 2.45 million shillings to celebrate the long but successful journey through the extended electioneering period at a popular Nairobi joint, the Galileo Lounge, Tuesday night.

The event which also included Nairobi governor Mike Sonko and the president's personal secretary Jomo Gecaga saw the president contribute 1 million and his deputy a further 700,000. Sonko contributed 500,000 shillings to the kitty with another 200,000 coming from Gecaga.

Also present at the party was National Assembly speaker Justin Muturi, his Senate counterpart Ken Lusaka, Gatundu South lawmaker Moses Kuria and former Mombasa senator Hassan Omar.

Others were former Taita Taveta women representative Joyce Lay and a host of Cabinet and Permanent secretaries plus tens of other individuals who played a role in helping realize Uhuru's re-election bid.

According to the paper, the money was spent on high-end drinks and meals.
