Deputy President William Ruto on Saturday called on candidates who lost in the Jubilee nominations to support those who are running on the party’s ticket.
“I am asking my brother and friend Buzeki to support Governor Jackson Mandago,” said the DP. The Governor, who was accompanying the President and the DP, assured them that peace and harmony will be his priority.
Earlier in the day, the President assured residents of Chosongoch in Elgeyo Markwet County that the government will continue beefing up security in the region.
He said the Jubilee Administration was investing Sh8 billion in construction and maintenance of roads in the county.
President Kenyatta said 24,000 households were now connected to electricity in the area, double the number that were connected four years ago.
At Chepkorio, the President announced that residents of the area who were displaced when their land was taken over for flourspar mining would be compensated. The government is expected to spend at least Sh1 billion to compensate the land owners who were affected.
Tomorrow, President Kenyatta will take his campaign for re-election to Bungoma County and will return to Eldoret in the afternoon.
