President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto have continued to call for a peaceful election, with only hours to go to the much awaited exercise.
Attending different church services on Sunday, the two leaders asked Kenyans to maintain peace during and after the polls, after the closure of the campaign period on Saturday.
Speaking at Jesus Winner Ministry in Roysambu Constituency, President Kenyatta urged the congregation to pray for their victory and peaceful elections.
“Let us pray for peace and I am requesting for your prayers as we head towards this final journey. There is no need to fight because of politics because everyone has the right to vote as directed and guided by God,” said Uhuru.
Kenyatta further thanked Kenyans for their widespread support through the camping period, as well as maintaining peaceful campaigns.
He continued: “I thank God for being with us during the four years. We have had many obstacles but God has always been with us. We should pray as a Church for Him to see us through”.
Later on, Kenyatta and his deputy attended another service at Deliverance Church Umoja, with the same message on peace being the highlight of their talk.
“You have been good neighbours and I urge you to remain so regardless of your tribe, religion or political affiliation. Do not allow anything to put a wedge between you,” said Kenyatta.
