President Uhuru Kenyatta is reportedly unhappy with his Gusii campaign team and could fire them following intelligence reports about his popularity, a source privy to Jubilee activities has confirmed.

Recently, Jubilee strategists zoned Gusii region as tossup and vowed to invest in the region to swing over 800,000 votes in their favour.

But the region reportedly remains firm in opposition at least according to intelligent reports despite massive investments to campaigns.

Kisii senator Chris Obure, Charles Nyachae, Joseph Kiangoi and Joash Maangi are individuals trusted to lead the Jubilee campaign team.

“I am sure that it is a matter of time the campaign team is disbanded. Intelligence reports show that little has been done on the ground,” said the source on condition of anonymity.

The source added:” The president has invested a lot in Gusii but intelligence shows his representatives are unpopular.”

With the increasing opposition to Kenyatta’s government, a number of his representatives have been facing hostility while advocating for his re-election.

Charles Nyachae, who chairs Nyanza campaigns, was for instance booed recently at Menyinkwa by angry ODM supporters.

The planned overhaul could see youthful people taking over while the current team is likely to play advisory roles.
