Speaker Ekwee Ethuro finds himself in unfamiliar position as intensive lobbying takes shape with days to officials opening of parliament.
The Turkana born former MP was lauded by a section of opposition and government senators based on his conduct during the first senate.
And his position is at state with his sponsor party Jubilee said to be secretly backing immediate outgoing Kisii senator Chris Obure.
“I don’t think he deserves such treatment given his enormous contribution in the pioneer senate. Jubilee still needs his support.
“Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto should come out openly and support this guy. The senate needs his wisdom given what he showed the nation last time,” adds Gideon Mamboleo.
In what is seen as a direct reward to the Gusii community owing to Uhuru’s spectacular performance, Ethuro could be on his way out.
With Jubilee majority in the house however, Obure has to face Ethuro alongside Susan Kihika and Kembi Gitura.
