President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee Party has reported reached a compromise over a number of elective seats ahead of Nyamira County nominations.
The party was due to witness rivalry of its own class in both Governorship, senatorial and Women representative seats with top candidates exuding confidence ahead of the Friday’s exercise.
But a meeting brokered by State House operatives over the weekend reportedly agreed on candidates to contest specific seats with only those competing MPs and MCAs seats given an okay to go for nominations.
“The president is keen to capture a number of seats in Gusii region and we had to negotiate. We have agreed of candidates and we are only conducting nominations in MCAs and MP seats,” said a source who spoke in confidence.
The source added:” Governorship, Women Representative and senatorial seats will not have people competing. We have reached a compromise.”
According to the source, Walter Nyambati would run for Governor, Joseph Kiangoi would run for senator while all Women rep aspirants were given until Wednesday to make a decision.
Candidates who shelved their ambitions would work in the presidential campaign and would get state appointments in the near future.
