President Uhuru Kenyatta will on Wednesday campaign in Taita Taveta County as he seeks to consolidate his support base ahead of August 8.
Uhuru, who will be accompanied by his deputy, William Ruto, will launch multiple development projects in the county that overwhelmingly voted for opposition leader Raila Odinga in 2013.The tour will mark the end of his campaigns in Coast after he addressed rallies and dished out goodies in Mombasa, Kwale, Kilifi, Lamu and Tana River.In Kwale on Tuesday, Uhuru and Ruto said they would not want to see any Kenyan, especially in the Coastal region, living as a squatter.The two spoke in Shimoni where local leaders vowed to marshal support for the president and Jubilee aspirants.Uhuru said the Jubilee administration has distributed more than 40,000 title deeds in Kwale County alone as part of its action plan to empower Kenyans to own property to enable them create wealth.“The 300,000 Coast titles are part of the more than 3.5 million titles deeds that the Jubilee government has issued in the last four years as part of its pledge to enable Kenyans own land and create wealth,” he said.During the 2013 presidential election, Uhuru garnered 12,175 votes against Raila’s 75,329 in Taita Taveta County.
