Ndumberi MCA Ngugi Uiru has urged youths in the ward to take advantage of the funds being given by the government and start business ventures.
Uiru said that youths have an opportunity to better their lives through the funds being given by the government.
Speaking to reporters at Ndumberi Shopping Centre on Sunday, Uiru said that the county and the national government is giving out funds which youths, women and persons living with disability should apply for.
The MCA said that youths and other marginalised groups will be empowered if they apply for development funds.
He lamented over the low number of youths seeking the funds noting that unemployment and poverty will continue to bite if youths are not applying for the development funds.
“I am appealing to youths and other marginalised groups within this area to take advantage of the Uwezo and Biashara funds for their own development,” said the MCA.
He also encouraged marginalised groups to seek government tenders. He observed that many marginalised groups have not taken advantage of the 30 per cent government tenders awarded to them.
He stated that development will be realised if marginalised groups take advantage of government empowerment programmes.
