Dr Beatrice Luciola Jepkemoi, a Kenyan born dentist has been suspended by the authorities in the United Kingdom after several of her patients complained of being conned.
She has been suspended for 18 months by the Interim Orders Committee (IOC) of the UK’s General Dental Council (GDC), during which investigations into the allegations would be conducted.
The GDC received complaints of how she failed to provide orthodontic dental treatment at her clinic (Beyond Dental Care) despite being paid, and also providing poor services which forced her patients sought correction measures elsewhere, which cost them a lot.
“The gist of their complaints is that Ms Luciola took advance payment in the sum of several thousand pounds for orthodontic dental treatment from them without starting and/or completing the treatment.
“Some of the patients also alleged that Ms Luciola provided poor orthodontic treatment, leaving them, or their children, in pain and discomfort and having to pay more money to have the treatment corrected elsewhere,” read a statement by the Interim Orders Committee (IOC).
More so, she refused to pick calls from her patients which led to her fleeing to Kenya. However, she stated that she returned to Kenya to take care of her ailing father. Through her lawyer, Mr. Bryan Muindi of TripleOK law Advocates, it was noted that she is in Kenya on on compassionate leave.
