A Mombasa court has allowed two United Kingdom (UK) based doctors to testify in a case seeking to determine the cause of the death of British tycoon Harry Veevers, via video conferencing. According to the Nation, Mombasa senior principal magistrate Charles Ndegwa gave permission to Dr Alexander Richard Allan and Dr RichardSykes to give their testimonies away from the courtroom following an application by Director of Public Prosecutions. The Senior Assistant DPP Alexander Muteti had told the court that the two could not make to travel to the country for the case considering the nature of their work and busy schedules. He also said that the UK doctors are readily available to testify in the case of the Briton, who died in Mombasa on February 14, 2013. “They are, however, willing to testify via video link and have proposed dates and time when they will be available,” said Muteti, as quoted by the daily.Ndegwa has ordered Muteti to liaise with the court’s Information Communication and Technology (ICT) department to undertake a compatibility test before the duo testify in the case. Muteti said that the prosecution is ready to abide by the guidelines the court will give. The late tycoon’s daughter, Ms Alexandra Veevers, during a past hearing, told the court that she did not know that her grandmother wanted the remains of her late dad flown to the UK. She further said that the mother had not objected the suggestion of the grandmother. Is there a newsworthy accident, incident or event happening in Mombasa County that you want Hivisasa to cover?
