According to Nic Hailey, the British Commissioner to Kenya, the new funding will be channeled directly to the refugees in order to help them start up their lives afresh.

'The additional funding will be directly channeled to helping the thousands of Somali refugees to return home from Dadaab complex, in a way which is very safe, dignified, and one that allows them to build a brighter future for themselves and their respective families," said Hailey.

However, Sh529 million from this kitty will be spent in Kenya to facilitate identification and registration of the Somali refugees who apply to return home, and also to provide them with safer routes of transport on their way home.

The remaining funds will go into offering them shelter, hygiene kits and other essentials as they resume their normal life in Somalia.
