The men of cloth under the umbrella, United Kamba Clergy in conjunction with the Kamba Clans Governing Council said all Kenyans must recognize President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto as the legitimately elected leaders and embark on process of national healing and reconciliation.

Addressing Journalists in Machakos town on Friday, the clergy called upon Kenyans to take a rest from the endless cycle of politicking and forge ahead with matters of development.

“It is high time Kenyans moved forward and concentrate on matters of development because endless politicking is recipe for poverty and economic stagnation,” Arch Bishop Dr Arthur Kitonga said.

Kitonga called on Kenyans to embrace unity instead of carrying burdens of perennial division.

He advised political leaders to embrace dialogue.

“Even those in opposition have got acute divisions but what we are advising them is to embrace peace, unity and honor those God has anointed in the previous election,” Kitonga said.

The sentiments were echoed by the caucus's secretary general Bishop Joel Nzomo who said the Church was not happy with rampant chaotic behaviors among politicians which breach the country's peace.

“It is blasphemous for some leaders to be referred to as Baba, Mwana na Roho Mtakatifu…. In public TV and social media noting the failure of the Clergy to rebuke such blasphemy, we appeal to Kenyans to respect the Holy Bible” Nzomo said.

Indirectly attacking the NASA coalition, they expressed their amazement to some politicians equating themselves to prophets of God like Joshua leading his people to Canaan .

“It is up to God to punish such people, but the christians must not cower just because some of these people weld earthly powers,” Nzomo added.

Chairman of the Kamba Clans Governing Council of Elders Boniface Kilonzo said the community was among the country’s ‘big five’ and should not be left behind in government appointments.

“The few votes that Uhuru and Ruto got in Ukambani did not come easily, we are appealing to the President to consider our sons and daughters for government appointments so as to influence development projects in our land,” Nzomo added.
