Elders and professionals from the Ukambani region have pledged to support President Uhuru Kenyatta’s re-election bid.
Addressing delegates at Maanzoni lodge over the weekend, Health CS Cleopa Mailu said the Jubilee administration had initiated various development projects aimed at improving the lives of the common mwananchi.
He cited the construction of the Kibwezi-Kitui road and Thwake dam which he said will open up the region.
He lauded the President’s efforts in improving the lives of the Kamba community in the last four years.
On his part, Economic secretary Geoffrey Mwau said the Jubilee administration had accomplished for the Kamba community in just one term what passed regimes were unable to deliver.
"It is important for Kenyans to know Uhuru deserves another term because of his accomplishments," said Mwau, as quoted by The Star.
His sentiments were reiterated by former EACC chairman Mumo who said Uhuru deserves a second term in office to complete the projects he has already started.
"We support Jubilee for what we see. When he was the Deputy Prime Minister, he defended me and lobbied for my appointment as EACC chairman," he said.
Kamba clans governing council chairman Boniface Kilonzo who also attended the meeting, urged the council members should support Uhuru’s re-election.
