Speaking from Health Cabinet Secretary Cleopas Mailu's Makueni home where they were hosted, the elders said Jubilee government has proved to be development-conscious and they will support it to develop the region.

“We have resolved to fully support the government and the development agenda for our people. We have faith in the Jubilee administration and the leadership of President Uhuru Kenyatta,” one of the elders said.

During the meeting, the Health CS also sought the support of Ukambani Council of Elders in some of the government’s projects in the area. Other leaders present during the meeting include MPs Michael Kisio (Mbooni), Joe Mutambu (Mwingi Central), Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) board chairman Professor Philip Kaloki, retired General Jeremiah Kianga and Nairobi politician Mutuku Mutua.

MP Joe Mutambu urged the community to rally behind the Uhuru Kenyatta-led government in order to benefit from massive projects being done by Jubilee. He asked them to vote for the party in 2017 to ensure Uhuru is re-elected.
