Governors from counties in Ukambani region have been told to draft a policy paper for establishment of South Eastern Economic Block in a bid of eliminating poverty in Kamba nation.
The proposal was issued by MCAs from Makueni County led by the assembly's speaker Douglas Mbilu.
They spoke during the Ukambani Leaders Unity Forum at Komarock in Matungulu, Machakos County on Monday.
The lot said they will ensure the draft policy paper is adopted in national and county assemblies as well as the Senate with an intent of making sure there is economic development in Kamba land.
Mbilu said there are lots of resources in Makueni, Kitui and Machakos counties which do not benefit the locals.
"We have plenty of resources that benefit outsiders more than us, let's make use of them to redeem our people from poverty," Mbilu said.
He said the Kamba community unity should bring forth tangible development to the residents.
Machakos County Assembly's majority leader Francis Ngunga pledged to lead an ID and Voter Registration campaign towards a strong political voter strength to bolster Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka in 2022.
This is after the Kamba community endorsed the former Vice President to vie for presidency in next general elections.
"I will move up and down in Kamba land to ensure we have enough registered voters so that Kalonzo can have a bargaining power in 2022", Ngunga said .
