Nine ex-MPs from Ukambani allied to the Jubilee Party have downplayed the call by NASA call to its supporters to boycott products from some companies in the country.
Speaking during a meeting at a Nairobi Hotel on Wednesday the nine Ukambani leaders termed the move as an economic sabotage and aimed at shaking Kenya’s economic stand in the region.
In their statement which was read by former Kibwezi East MP Philip Kaloki, the leaders expressed their fears that the boycott by NASA will increase unemployment in the country calling on the Kamba community to avoid it.
"It will increase unemployment, leading to intense suffering for our people. This will lead to insecurity and anarchy in the country," Kaloki said.
The leaders have however called on Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka to leave the NASA coalition warning him that he will soon be shortchanged like in the 2013 elections when he was asked to drop his political bid in support of the then CORD leader Raila Odinga.
"It seems Kalonzo has been sidelined. He will ultimately be told that he was not there during the creation of NRM," reiterated former Mbooni MP Kisoi Munyao.
NASA has called on their supporters to boycott products of three companies, Safaricom, Brookside, and Bidco.
