Led by outgoing Kitui Senator David Musila, the leaders told journalists that they have been in the Opposition for long and do not think it will be okay to stay longer.

The leaders confirmed that Ukambani region had not taken any decision regarding the poll outcome dispute, but promised to engage the community on the next political move.

“We are not making a decision for the community but we will be engaging them in a series of meetings soon to discuss on the way forward. It will be bad for us to be in the opposition for the next five years,” said Musila, who lost the Kitui gubernatorial race to former Lands Cabinet Secretary Charity Ngilu.Musila added they are yet to talk to Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka about this.The ousted leaders congratulated the President-elect Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy President-elect William Ruto on their election victory.They urged NASA to seek legal redress to settle the poll outcome row instead of calling on supporters to stage demonstrations.The press conference was attended by Marcus Muluvi of Wiper Democratic Movement (WDM-K) who lost the Kitui East parliamentary seat to Jubilee’s Nimrod Mbai, Charles Nyamai of WDM-K who lost the Kitui Rural seat to David Mboni, Joe Mutambo of Jubilee who lost the Mwingi Central seat to WDM-K’s Gideon Mutemi, John Munuve Mati of Jubilee who lost the Mwingi North seat to WDM-K’s Paul Nzengu, Benson Itwiku Mbai of Jubilee who lost the Masinga seat to Joshua Mwalyo of WDM-K and Bernard Kitungi who lost the Mwingi West seat.
