A section of leaders from the Ukambani region has recommended a death penalty for culprits of corruption.
Machakos Woman Representative Joyce Kamene on Friday said lenient measures accorded to graft culprits has led to increased rates of corruption in the country.
Kamene said the country should adopt laws that will ensure stringent measures are taken against people involved in graft without favor.
She spoke during the Madaraka Day celebrations in Matungulu Sub-county on Friday.
Kamene said graft has been crippling the country stating that suspects will always walk away scot free due to insufficient evidence if proper measures aren't taken.
Makueni MP Daniel Maanzo speaking elsewhere in Kilungu Boys on Friday, also recommended the same punishment for those found guilty of corruption cases.
Maanzo said the current National Youth Service (NYS) Sh9 billion scandal investigations should bear fruits.
"We won't be satisfied with just arrests. We want to see people being prosecuted and jailed, then the country will breath a sigh of relief," Maanzo said.
Other leaders who joined the death penalty recommendation bandwagon include Kathiani MP Robert Mbui.
