Chama Cha Uzalendo (CCU) party leader Wavinya Ndeti Machakos Deputy Governor Bernard Kiala and East African Legislative Member Peter Mathuki have agreed to work together to send home Governor Dr Alfred Mutua home in the forthcoming general polls.
Speaking during a meeting held at Emali, the trio agreed to join forces to ensure that Mutua does not retain his seat come August 8.
The leaders affirmed that the only way to dethrone Mutua from power is working together.
“The three of us here are interested in being the next Machakos Governor and we are all able. But we will not beat our enemy if we all go divided. Personally, I am ready to sacrifice my ambitions if that is what will call for this unity to remain,” Mathuki said, as quoted by Star.
Before the announcement, Wavinya Ndeti and Kiala had affirmed that they will be on the ballot box when that time comes. The union of the three leaders is likely to shift the political situation of this part of the nation. Political observers and opinion polls have, however, continued to argue that no union has the power to unseat Mutua from power.
