Leaders across different parts of Ukambani have continued to condemn National Assembly majority leader Aden Duale's alleged ethnic remarks against the Kamba Community residing in Garissa.
Speaking at separate occasions at the weekend, the leaders have demanded immediate arrest and prosecution of the Garissa Township MP, who they accuse of war mongering.
The leaders who include Chama Cha Uzalendo (CCU) party leader Wavinya Ndeti, senators David Musila (Kitui), Johnston Muthama (Machakos) and MPs Kyengo Maweu (Kangundo), Stephen Mule (Matungulu) aspirants Dr Charles Kilonzo (Matungulu) and youth leaders said Duale’s utterances go against the spirit of national cohesion and integration.
Wavinya who spoke at Sengani village in Matungulu when she visited the home of the late Paramount Chief Savano Maveke who passed on last week, termed Duale’s words as grossly irresponsible and recipe for ethnic violence.
“Such utterances coming from someone like Duale is an indication of the extent to which the leadership of this country has lacked moral authority to unite the people of Kenya, and we’re condemning such in totality,” said the former Kathiani MP after condoling with the family.
At the same time, a Matungulu parliamentary aspirant seat Dr Charles Kilonzo who accompanied Wavinya said firm legal action ought to be taken against Duale.
And speaking at AIC Tala during an occasion to flag off wings to fly scholars, Mule and Maweu called on the police inspector general and interior CS to act on Duale’s alleged war-mongering.
“We want to tell Duale and those who think like him that Kenya belongs to all of us. Every Kenyan has the right to live anywhere in the country irrespective of their perceived political inclination,” said Kangundo MP.
Mr Mule said, “We want the top security officials in the country including police IG Joseph Boinett and interior Cs Joseph Nkaisery to swiftly investigate Duale and immediately charge him with political incitement.”
At the same time, ODM national youth chairman, Martin Muthusi criticized Duale’s alleged remarks terming them cowardly and “politically foolish.”
“Duale is a political loser in waiting who has sensed defeat and he seems to have turned to intimidating his perceived opponents by all means possible in a bid to survive,” he said.
And speaking at a burial ceremony in Kitui, Senators Muthama and Musila condemned Duale’s remarks saying he (Duale) must have been sent by his “bosses” to issue threats against Kamba community residing in Garissa.
Early Sunday Morning, Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka said Cord will take this case to ICC as Duale has gone against international laws of cohesion and integration.
