Kitui governor Julius Malombe has dismissed claims that Jubilee Party has made considerable inroads into Ukambani region.
Speaking on Friday, the County Chief stated that the region was ready to rally behind Opposition coalition NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga and his Deputy Kalonzo Musyoka during the forthcoming polls.
The governor observed that Jubilee's unfulfilled promises to Kenyans in the run up to the 2013 general elections had pushed Kenyans from the party.
"It is now an open secret. Mr Odinga would be a one-term President and handover the leadership mantle to Kalonzo in 2022. This is an opportune moment for Kambas which cannot be squandered," he said.
He further exuded confidence that he will recapture his seat, despite stiff competition from Senator David Musila and former Cabinet Secretary Charity Ngilu.
"I beat him (Musila) despite failed attempts by his henchmen to rig the Wiper nominations. I will do the same in August where I am prepared to send him to permanent political retirement," he said.
