Kilonzo said Wiper party cannot be the solution to problems locals from Ukambani counties face.

He addressed the press at Tala town in Matungulu on Sunday.

Kilonzo said residents should know that Wiper will not issue tickets to those who win in party primaries but candidates who buy nomination certificates.

“Party will never work for the people but development minded individuals, electorates should vote leaders with credible development track records without minding their political parties,” said Kilonzo.

He said Wiper is fond of issuing nomination certificates to incompetent individuals after shortchanging competent candidates who win in party nominations due to their popularity among electorates.

Kilonzo said the region has lagged behind in development for decades because most of the locals have been brainwashed by the party.

He said the residents should embrace multiparty democracy and allow as many political parties as possible to thrive in Machakos, Makueni and Kitui counties.

“Let us have as many parties as possible in Ukambani to prevent those elected to various offices from siphoning public funds meant for development,” said Kilonzo.

Kilonzo said six-piece voting pattern should be discouraged in the region.

“Residents should vote wisely in forthcoming elections so that they do not regret later as is the case in the region currently, voting as a suit cannot work,” said Kilonzo.

He said it is workable for Ukambani governors and their deputies to be elected from different political parties if they form credible coalitions.

“Machakos residents should vote in CCU leader Wavinya Ndeti as a governor in 2017, she can be deputized by a candidate from another party or coalition,” said Kilonzo.

Kilonzo is running on a CCU ticket.
