Nairobi deputy governor Jonathan Mweke has urged Ukambani residents to ignore politicians fighting Wiper party and its leadership in the region.
Mweke said seasonal politicians from the region are experienced hence should not be undermined by first-time legislatures.
“Let us not pay attention to the first MPs who are running around that they want to fight Wiper in Ukambani,” said Mweke.
He spoke during the burial of Chama Cha Uzalendo leader Wavinya Ndeti’s husband Prince Henry Dolamu Oduwole at Kinanie in Mavoko Constituency on Friday.
Mweke said Ndeti, NARC leader Charity Ngilu and Makueni governor Kivutha Kibwana should support Cord’s co – Principal Kalonzo Musyoka to strengthen his political wave in the region.
“We will form a super alliance in Cord, other leaders will come since they know that the coalition will liberate Kenyans. I urge Wavinya Ndeti, Charity Ngilu and Kivutha Kibwana to join us so that we form our own super alliance in Ukambani,” said Mweke.
Ndeti and Ngilu are rallying for Machakos and Kitui gubernatorial positions respectively while Kibwana is defending his seat on Muungano Party ticket on which he was elected as the Makueni governor in 2013.
Mweke said Cord is targeting to gunner at least two million votes from Ukambani in 2017 elections hence the importance of the unity among its leaders.
He said Jubilee had started rigging in some parts of the country through improper issuance of national identification cards.
“We are tired of corruption and deceit of the Jubilee administration, the Principals will decide on who to become flag bearer of Cord so that we show Jubilee dust in 2017 elections,” said Mweke.
In a quick rejoinder at the same function, Ngilu said she will think about the call to join Cord coalition ahead of forthcoming polls.
Ngilu said the country needs leadership that understands needs of its people.
“The most important thing in this country is how we are going to develop it, we have talked about poverty for a very long time. We cannot forever continue talking about poverty and suffering of citizens,” said Ngilu.
She said Cord should incorporate more women in the coalition.
