Ukambani schools have taken the swift step to paint their school buses the yellow unison paint.

This move follows the directive given by the Education Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i.

People from Ukambani region have been stereotyped to be lovers of the yellow color.

This cannot be proven or ruled out completely.

However, it seems that the region has welcomed the education CS’s order to paint all school buses yellow with both open arms.

Speaking at the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) in Machakos County, the college’s chairman Professor Phillip Kaloki said that it was time Kenyans embraced change and stopped being arrogant to the law.

According to the chairman, the paint which was proposed by the education CS Fred Matangi is an international color for both private and public schools.

“If you go to developed countries around the world such as the United States of America, United Kingdom, and the rest, all public and private schools have their buses painted in yellow color. Who are we not to embrace that? That is how it should be,” said Kaloki.

Kaloki also seized the opportunity to thank Machakos county schools and those in the greater Ukambani region for leading the country in adhering to the new imposed order that is deemed to streamline transport in the education sector.

“I congratulate all the principals, headteachers and all education players for accepting the new directive and the good reception over the change of color on the buses”, Kaloki said.

Recently education CS said that schools have until March to have all their school buses painted yellow in a bid to eliminate confusion in the transport sector and prevent schools from operating as public service vehicles.
