At a meeting attended by elected and nominated Wiper leaders from Machakos and Makueni Counties, the politicians said NASA principals should clear the air on circumstances surrounding oath taking to prevent the opponents from using it as a weapon.

Led by the NASA's co-chairman Johnston Muthama, the politicians addressed the press at a hotel in Athi River, Machakos County on Thursday.

"We demand that NASA principals immediately issue a statement so that we can continue with the liberation of this country,” Muthama said.

The issue of Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka taking an oath as the People's Deputy President took center stage with the party leadership coming out in his defense even as his failure to turn up on January 30th continue to attract myriad of criticism from various quarters.

“We are on course and indeed, Kalonzo shall be sworn in at an appropriate time that shall be decided by Kenyans and NASA. There is no other number two in NASA other than Kalonzo," Muthama said.

The former Machakos Senator maintained that the party is firmly in NASA declaring that Kalonzo’s failure to take oath was not a ploy to destroy the coalition as claimed by naysayers.

“There are people who want to portray that those who did not attend the swearing in ceremony were out to sabotage the opposition, that criticism is coming from individuals who want to destroy NASA," Muthama added.

In one resolve, the leaders urged the Kamba Community to stay united under the leadership of Kalonzo in his quest for 2022 presidency.

Through a joint statement that was read to journalists by the Makueni County Woman Representative Rose Museo, the Wiper leaders said they were committed to electoral justice and a democratic NASA.

The meeting was also attended by the Kamba Council of Elders chairman Samuel Muumbi who said the community was firmly united behind Wiper leader irrespective of the political turmoil sparked by his oath skipping.

Though present in the event, the wiper leader did not turn up for the media briefing.
