Courtesy: Daily Nation]The United Nations Office at Nairobi has challenged Opposition coalition NASA and ruling party Jubilee to embrace dialogue to help unlock the standoff surrounding the October 26 repeat elections.In a letter sent to electoral agency IEBC, UNON Director General Sahle-Work noted that only a bipartisan process can provide a long lasting solution to the impasse.“The United Nations urges the parties to recommit themselves to dialogue and to seek consensus based solutions to their differences as the most appropriate means,” she said.Zwede further urged IEBC to ensure that they conduct the polls in accordance with the Constitution and existing laws.NASA has laid down key demands that they want met before agreeing to participate the polls, including the removal of IEBC CEO Ezra Chiloba from office.The outfit has since threatened to boycott the elections, accusing Chiloba of bungling the August general elections.On their part, Jubilee has presented a raft of proposed amendments to the electoral laws, claiming that they are aimed at sealing loopholes in the electoral process.
