Tuskys has been bombarded by applications from 10,000 applicants for its limited internship slots.
The development is an indication of the worsening unemployment crisis that the country is battling with.
The retail chain giant revealed that it had only shortlisted 1700 out of the 10,000 applicants for interviews.
Over 22 Masters degree holders applied for the internship.
2017 applications marked a 70 percent increase in applications from last year, Dan Githua, Tuskys CEO, said.
The number of women who applied for the KCB-funded internship far outstripped that of men.
''We have seen very educated people applying for the internships, meaning that the problem of unemployment is very huge.'' Githua said.
