Gusii Water and Sanitation Company manager has confirmed that unblocking of drainage patterns is complete.
GWASCO director Zachariah Moguche said water supply will increase in Kisii town and its environs. Moguche said GWASCO is now treating water at Bobaracho and Kegati water pumping stations.
“We are now focused to increase water supply across Kisii County because all blocked water pipes and other drainage patterns have been fixed. There will be an increased supply of water from 6 million litres per day to 27 million litres per day,” he said.
He added that dirty water will flow in the same pipes to contaminate clean and treated water.
“Kisii region has witnessed water contamination in the past few months. Following the completion works on drainage systems, dirty water will be channelled to different water pipes to ensure there is no water contamination,” he added.
He assured that water crisis will be a past tense because residents who have stealing water with illegal connections won't be able to connect water illegally.
"We have measures in place to ensure no illegal water connection in the region. Residential homes will have a free flow of water without any doubt," said Moguche.
