After a long December holiday occasioned by the long electioneering calendar, students and pupils will be reporting back to class for the new term this week.

The learners will be back to new changes, with new programmes set to be implemented this first term.

Some might not find the school principals they were used to, with the impending mass transfer of school heads.

There is also the contested implementation of the new curriculum that should be rolled out this year, as well as listing all school going children with the National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF).

Education CS Fred Matiang’i is expected to hold a series of meetings between today, Tuesday and tomorrow, in order to address issues raised by education stakeholders.

Some argue that the education ministry is not prepared for the many changes that should be done now, and want more consultations on the same.

Other changes expected to be made include providing books for students and pupils aimed at reducing the burden on parents.

Last year, President Uhuru Kenyatta promised to ensure the right procedures have been laid down to ensure the programmes are implemented well.
